Feeling like I suck at welding

Stock recommendations? Trying to figure out what to replace the waffle stock on the current build with. I like stocks to be on the shorter side, nothing over 7 in. I like the CAR stock on other builds I’ve done but want something different on this. Here’s a graphic I made of stocks by length.
