Bought this trench lighter at a flea market today. Seller bought it in England and thought it was WW1 but the 8mm Mauser cartridge it is based on is dated 1938. Not very knowledgeable on lighters in general, how would this type work?

Just an hour or so ago, at least four aircraft (mostly SBDs, though one might be an F4F) were found at the bottom of the aft elevator pit on the wreck of the USS Yorktown CV-5. These are the first aircraft to be found at any of the Midway wrecks.

Part 2 of yesterday’s post showing today’s dive on the USS Yorktown, which included the historic discovery of the remains of at least four aircraft in the aft elevator, the first Battle of Midway aircraft to be found at any of the wrecks.

This wall-size mural was painted by the crew of the USS Yorktown on the hanger deck near the number 2 elevator. Today it was seen for the first time since the Yorktown sank after the Battle of Midway in June, 1942.

A car was *just* discovered in the wreck of the USS Yorktown CV-5, sunk at the Battle of Midway in 1942. None of the literature I’ve ever read mentioned a car being onboard for the battle. I know the screenshots suck, they couldn’t get close to it this time, but any idea what it is?
