Future of Queer Fiction in America

So I've dedicated the bulk of the last year to revisiting writing as a hobby and potential career. I wrote and finished my 8th novel, started my 9th.

I have never attempted to publish before, but now I'm feeling ready to start trying. I still have to edit and get beta readers and edit again, but already I'm feeling defeated. I don't write smut, but both my novels are going to have queer storylines in them; the newest, which I'm leaning on most to query when it's ready, is pretty heavy gay romance. It's YA and aimed toward younger audiences. With the recent shifts of power & all the threats of censorship & criminalization of "pornogrpahy" or "immoral" stuff, I'm feeling very nervous. I'm feeling like I'm being shut out before I can get my foot in the door.

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice?
