Gear for a winter Flume Slide hike once things ice/snow over?
I'm hoping to get into a bit more technical winter hiking this year having limited myself to trails that only require snowshoes/microspikes in the past. I've heard mixed things where people have said hillsounds are sufficient while others have suggested full crampons (semi auto), so I was hoping to get some feedback from people who have done this/are more knowledgeable.
I'm pretty comfortable with winter hiking in the area (i.e. obsessing over forecasts/up to date weather, packing for worst case situations, etc), though I will also be picking up an ice axe since that seems universally recommended for this route.
Of course, if this seems like a terrible idea, please let me know since I know how quickly overconfidence can mess one up in the whites.
