Side Trail off Ammo

I noticed hiking up Ammonoosuc yesterday flagging tape and a weak trail to climbers right just before you cross Monroe Brook.
Now I can also see it on Gaia and it looks like it just follows the Brook up to around 4000’ and just ends.
Anyone know what this I s exactly? A lot of work to see a waterfall if that’s what it’s about.
