Discretionary entrance. Health science.

Hi, I’ll be entering Year 12 in 2025 and taking NCEA Level 2 courses. My subjects are Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Calculus, English, and Religious Studies (which is compulsory). In Level 1, I achieved all Excellence grades except for one Merit in English, and I’m still waiting on my external exam results.

I’ve been considering applying for discretionary entrance to university, meaning I would finish Year 12 and skip Year 13 to go straight to university. I’m really interested in doing this to get ahead and make the best use of my time. My plan is to study Health Sciences First Year or Biomed, with the goal of progressing into a professional programme.

However, I’m concerned about whether I’d be able to excel in these university courses without having covered the Year 13 content. Could you provide some advice on this?
