EVERYONE SHUT UP ABOUT POLITICS AND TRANS PEOPLE

TLDR: my community being a political talking point is extremely dehumanizing.

Political post, idgaf, genuine question abt transgender experience, go ahead man, but I am at my fucking limit with the "whats your opinion on trans people doing this (right or left wing on every option)" Maybe just let trans people be alright??? Yes, there's a lot going on with this but honestly the trans community is overwhelmed enough with politicians deciding our fate, we don't need a subreddit of angsty teens arguing about it to.

The worst part is every one of these posts I've seen has been made by a cis person. If you have a question or want someone to explain a perspective that's okay but please don't turn it into a massive debate. I am sick of a huge part of my life being treated like this weird hypothetical "what if these people did what us people do" kind of thing. And I wanna make it clear, when I say huge part of my life I don't just mean I make it my personality, I mean this is something that can affect my relationships, how the government perceives me, unfortunatly how people treat me, it affects my mental health, and so much more. This isn't your political talking point or debate topic, this is my life. Please treat the topic as such.

All this aside I'm gonna briefly list some terms that are a bit more respectful of the trans community bc I've seen a lot of people use the wrong term, which is okay, y'all don't know. That's why I'm sharing.

Saying "biological (blank)" is a bit iffy, it's a whole thing to get into on why but the better term would be AMAB (assigned male at birth) or AFAB (assigned female at birth)

FTM means female to male, an AFAB person who now identifies as male. MTF ofc means the reverse. I've seen a lot of confusion of if "trans man" means FTM or MTF. Trans man is FTM and trans woman is MTF. The main source of confusion here originally came from transphobes calling MTF women "trans identifying men" if you see that term it is a transphobic and improper term.

That's all. Just pls consider next time you're about to make a post about trans people, you're not talking about some political theory, you're talking about someone's life. If anyone has genuine questions, feel free to ask I'm always open to inform ppl.
