Alienware m15 r2 screen flickering and turning off even after updating display drivers

I've tried every recommendation I could find and nothing has worked. I'm sure it is a software issue as the flickering stops in bios and safe mode. I'm not sure wat to do. I've used the diagnostic test on the Dell website and it says everything is fine and all drivers are up to date. I've tried factory resetting it multiple times and also doesn't work. I connected it to an external monitor and their was no flickering on the external monitor but the laptop screen did flicker and shut off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
