There is something wrong with my cat

I got a new cat. This beautiful grey Persian cat named Tally. Ive been looking for a companion for a while as i'm living alone in a small apartment after a recent break up. So, I went to a shelter, and that is where I found Tally. The workers seemed so exited that i was getting him, they were telling about how long Tally has been looking for a home, and how he has been adopted multiple times, but after only a couple of months, he always came back to the shelter. I asked why, but the workers seemed clueless. They said that Tally was a calm, clean and relatively nice cat, and so they didn't understand why he could seem to keep a permanent home. They couldn't ask the previous owners either because they would never actually show up with Tally. The workers would simply come to work one day and find Tally in the shelter. They commented on how rude it was to simply abandon a cat without any words. I agreed.

The first week of having Tally was perfect, he was in fact a calm cat, so calm that i never actually heard him make a noise, not even a single meow. I rarely got any visitors since i don't have much friends so I would spend most of my time with him. He was rather picky with his food though. He didn't like normal cat food, so i tried giving wet food, but he actually gagged at it. I was surprised and wasn't sure what to feed him at this point. Luckily, i work at a rotisserie chicken shop, so i would bring chicken home and feed it to him. He seemed at lot more pleased with this option.

After about a month of having Tally is when i noticed that he never seemed to take his eyes off of me. I simply thought that he was very affectionate, and must really like me. But after a while, it seemed more like he was watching me, or rather, studying me. Things just started to get weirder after that point, I would wake in the middle of the night to find Tally just staring at me. Watching me. Like he was waiting for something. Something to happen.

I started to notice more weird things, like, Tally was getting bigger, like, much bigger than when i first got him, I wasn't overfeeding him, and it wasn't just his stomach that was big, everything got bigger. His legs, his paws, his head. This was weird because he was already an adult cat, why was he getting bigger? The only thing that was actually getting smaller, was his fur and tail.

The cat was not the only one changing. For some reason, I was too. I would wake up with these massive headaches, i would look at myself in the mirror and notice that my eyes were changing colour. I for some reason got a lot hairier than i was before. Hair growing, everywhere, almost like fur. And the cat, that demon. Would look slowly, more, human? It was as if being in presence of the cat alone was switching us.

Days went by, I was freaking out. I stoped going to work, I spent my days locked in my room looking online for what the hell was happening to me, a curse maybe? I was struggling to type on my computer as my fingers were getting shorter, and claws were digging out under my fingernails, making them fall out. I was in agony. Out of fear and anger, I slammed the door open and went looking for Tally. He was on the couch, still just staring at me. His eyes were on me. His creepy, weird human looking eyes on a cats body which was loosing his fur and underneath it, showing bits of pale skin. I got up close to the cats face to yell at him, ask him what in the world was happening to me. I opened my mouth and... Nothing. I couldn't get the words out. Or any words for that matter. The cat starred with an elongated smile that showed its teeth. Human teeth.

I needed to get out of there. I went back to the shelter. They were closed but I became small enough that I could fit in one of the vents outside that I got access by jumping on the garbage bins. I went in and waited for the workers to come in the morning, to explain the situation to them and that Tally was not just a normal cat, that I did not want to spend one more second with him and they urgently needed to put him down.

I woke in the shelter to a door unlocking. A worker came in and looked at me with utter disgust. No wonder, i probably looked hideous with my weird patches of fur, the growing whiskers on my face, my contorted body that was turning to the likes of a cat, which were also leaving me in excruciating pain. I walked on four legs towards her, everything seemed to have gotten bigger, or i was the one who got smaller. I was trying to tell her what happened. Open my mouth to try and get the words out. But it was not use. Nothing would come out. Her face turned from disgust to disappointment. She called the other three workers behind her to take a look. They all gasped in shock. Of course they would, I was turning into a monster. As they were looking at me, one of them teared up.

"Oh no. I thought this was really it this time. Im so sorry Tally."

Tally? Im not Tally

"What the hell was wrong with that guy? He seemed so different. This was his last chance too." Another worker said.

What. What are they saying? I looked at my reflection throughout the clear door. They were right I turned into a full blown, grey Persian cat, I turned into Tally.

Last chance? What do they mean by last chance?

One of the workers picked me up and puts me in a cage, i was fighting back, trying to let someone know, anyone know that i was a human.

"Your last owner must have really been messed up for you to be acting up like this."

"Don't worry" the other one said "You won't have to go through pain anymore"

No

No, Please!

"He doesn't deserve this. Poor Tally"

No! I'm not Tally! I keep pleading uselessly as they are walking away, hoping that someone would hear me. But they don't. I fell asleep after my endless fight against the cages bars, trying to escape.

I'm awoken much later to the feeling of someone picking me up and placing me on a cold surface. A veterinarian staring down at me. He seemed sorry. The last thing i felt was a needle being pushed into my leg and the intense need to sleep.
