Getting into skiing (Canada)

Hi people, tonight where I'm from is getting 20 cm of snow and I figure it's a great time to start what I've wanted to do for literally the past 3 years lol.

I am a teen and have skied with rentals many times and would say I'm decent, I have done Canadian dbl black diamonds which are like a green in the big resorts haha, but yea id say I'm not great but like it.

It is however February and I don't think getting a pair of skis would be worth it unless I ski like daily for the rest of the winter lol, but I just want people's opinions, do I buy used skis off play it again or do I just think about getting into it next year?

Also do I need snowpants to ski or not? I probably will fall but I don't mind having wet pants as I play hockey on odrs and get my pants soaked. A local place that has 2 hills is like walking distance from me so I'd probably be going there most the time.

And finally what should I expect to spend for skis, sticks, boots, helmet, and goggles?
