Belly button piercing redness and crust

I have had a belly button piercing for 7 years around last weekend I lost the top of the ring I have been wearing and I didn’t have another ring so I had to order one on Amazon I was without a ring. For about 3-4 days. When I got the ring it was hard to put on and was in the beginning stages of closing. It has been about 4 days since then and my belly button is still red and getting crusty. Is that normal or is the sign of infection. What are some ways I can treat it and or clean it?
