Get Company Match portion of 401k back?

Hey guys,

Made the mistake of leaving my company at 2 years and 10 months, and had no knowledge that the company match portion my 401k (~17k, not insignificant) only gets vested after 3 years. Does anyone know a way I can get that money back or should I just write it off due to poor timing? Lacking only 2 months of work to end up losing ~17k def stings, especially because that's retirement monies :(
