Is there a way to motivate patients to take charge of their own health?
I’m sitting here writing this up in the ED as I wait for a family member to get admitted. This family member of mine is non-compliant with meds, makes excuses for why they don’t follow through with their appointments. They live with another family member who try their best to motivate them, but it seems like there is no motivation or accountability to take charge of their own health. Do you have family members like this? And how do you deal with as a nurse? I feel like I keep having to nag this person to no avail and it’s very frustrating to see their health go downhill.
