Baby screams through every feed
I’m so devastated. Feeding journey started rough with triple feeding as baby girl (8w) wasn’t gaining weight and had a crappy latch. That was super unsustainable (torture) as a new mom. I met with a great lactation consultant who introduced me to nipple shields that 100% saved my breastfeeding journey.
She has had silent reflux from about 3weeks old. Gurgling when laying down, lots of spit up in the bassinet, etc. tried famotidine and now on the max dose of omeprazole for her weight. BUT there wasn’t significant crying during or after feeds.
2 weeks ago I worked to wean her off the nipple shields and somehow developed an insane oversupply. My letdown is crazy (2-3oz in 5 min) and baby can’t handle it without screaming/choking on milk. She’s gulping, clicking, popping on and off the nipple. I pull her off and spray some of the excess in a burp cloth but I can hear her swallowing air. I am block feeding and having a cup of peppermint tea everyday to try and drive supply down (recommended by LC) but nothing is working.
She pretty much screams through every feed and it’s literally heartbreaking. I can’t tell if it’s my oversupply/reflux/an allergy/possible tounge and lip tie/laryngomalacia and I’m driving myself insane.
Please help if you have any thoughts or gone through something similar
ETA: we give the omeprazole at night and she’s a great sleeper. Gaining weight fine
