NBN guy installed fibre NTD in the garage.

Not really asking for advice just want to vent. I organised a free FTTP upgrade to replace my FTTN service. All organised no worries. Appointment date was when I was at work but no worries. I come home to find the NBN tech has installed my NTD into the garage, requiring me install a 30 meter ethernet cable in the roof to connect it to the existing router location. I understand they tell you the NTD may not be able to go in the same place as the existing phone line, but surely the other end of the house a little unreasonable. Guy said it was the only place he could put it. Was he being lazy and has anyone had a similar experience when upgrading from FTTN to FTTP?
