How do you use sidechaining besides the classic kick/bass?
For instance, I've been using it a lot lately to get everything else to duck out of the way of the lead instrument - vocals or whatever has the melody usually. That's worked out really well; it's practically automatic now. But thinking there could possibly be many more uses.
FWIW, I've been self-producing for a year-plus, so not super experienced, though I've uploaded over 80 sings in that period to streaming sites. (The production on the early ones is primitive!) For the first 6-8 months, I did no sidechaining. Now I'm somewhat addicted. It reminds me of the ducking that instrumentalists do to not compete with the vocalist or soloist at a gig.
