Boots question?

I’ve got my test next month for my full license and need some boots for it and to use when I hopefully pass.. those with more experience, what kind of boot would you recommend for normal wear? I’m only going to be riding for pleasure when the weather is decent so waterproofing isn’t necessary. Full boots or the shorter trainer style boots? I know the full boots are more protective, but is that a trade off for functionality on or off the bike? I want to be as protected as possible but I also want something that I’m actually going to want to wear! Alpinestars boots just for illustrative purposes, if you’ve any recommendations please let me know! Thanks!
