Attitudes against religion in the community
I'm a lesbian who is also a very religious Buddhist. Now I know religious trauma is a major deal in our wider queer community but I also feel like is it even possible for me to be able to build a life with someone who will tolerate that?
So far every other lesbian I've met has been either non religious or outright anti-theist. At this point I don't even care if a girl is Buddhist or not, I just want someone who will respect that faith and religion is a huge part of me and it informs everything I do.
If anything, I find it funny that I bond easier with straight religious people than queer atheist people. Straight religious people can see past my difference in sexual preference and connect through our shared interest in having a faith. Meanwhile, queer people are still stuck on the religion part of me and cannot bond over the fact that we both know the queer experience.
Anyway. Just my thoughts.
