Are actresses doomed in our industry?
I was recently at a house party in namma chennai and you know the sequence of events, especially when it involves a resort somewhere in the city's coastline.
We had a few guys who were working as assistants to industry bigshots. Names you'd instantly recognise and people who have had both mixed reviews, hits and controversies in recent times. (keeping it vague for obvious reasons)
And as any boys-only conversation, ours headed towards actresses and I was completely shocked to hear alleged rumours.
Names of actresses who are pretty early in their career, one-hit wonders and even a few established actresses getting thrown around with a price tag was sickening and worrying.
I seriously hope this is not how things are. Imagine your boss pimping you out to ugly fucking men and that's the only way you get a project instead of staying on the bench.
To my fellow redditors in this sub,
- what are your thoughts on this? Do you think the industry is actually vile towards women who work there?
- in light of the recent credit conversation raised by Nitya Menen, do you think it's time we start showing the pigs in the industry that the women need to be respected?
- what do you think makes the women who are doing it, accept it or even put up with it?
