Birth control question

I am a foreign resident in Tokyo, and I am looking to start on some form of birth control. I've tried seeking help from doctors in my own country but they all refuse to speak with me unless they can assess me in person, so that's not an option.

I have a BMI of 36, which makes for an issue in that there's only a few types of contraceptive pill that are suitable for me, and I don't necessarily know if these pills are available/legal in Japan. I have tried to research it, but I can't seem to find out any information about women's experiences or options with birth control here as plus size women. Is this a doomed fight for me, or can any women englighten me as to their experience? I'd really appreciate it.
