Trying to figure out a fair but competitive rate I should charge for cleaning vacation rentals.
A local vacation rental company recently reached out to me, they found me through some of my marketing posts for my cleaning business on an app. I had a meeting with them already that seemed to go very well. But because I usually clean for residential homes and work with my clients- who are typically just families, I’m struggling to figure out what a good rate would be to charge for these different vacation rental properties. I live in Northern MI and our town is not large about a medium sized town but gets far more populated in the summer. So far the company has asked me to quote for a 4 bedroom property. The properties shouldn’t be too dirty considering they’re vacation rentals and would be more so a general maintenance clean BUT I will be cleaning sheets and duvet covers every time which will take more time and the vacation rental company goes through the app that I will have to use to check off like a check list to make sure I get every task done- like taking out trash as well and setting out things like soap toilet paper and paper towels to be refilled. I quoted them the property for 4 bedrooms should be about $150. They asked me about what I would quote 2 more properties- 1 would sleep 4 and the other sleeps 6 and they are at a complex that has a community washer and dryer so they said I would likely have to take the laundry off site to wash which obviously would take much more time and I don’t quite know how that’d work or what to charge. Compared to what I charge other clients, I’d like to be around a rate that’s $40-$45 an hour especially because there’s a high standard of clean that will be expected for vacation rentals. What do you guys think is a fair but still competitive rate to charge for these?
