Henna Gloss Application

First time henna user and natural redhead, doing a henna gloss to restore shine and get a color boost.

Photo shows results. Left side before and right side the morning after henna gloss application.

This was my process:

I did not use a shower cap or gloves, and I applied the henna to wet hair while doing my regular shower. I knew I wasn't going to leave it in for longer than five minutes, so this was perfect for me. I had no staining on my skin at all. I washed henna off the inside of my shower curtain as I saw splatters. No staining there either.

Mixing and Ratio * Mixed 2 tsp henna, 4 tsp cassia, and 1/4 cup hot water until smooth * Covered lightly with paper towel and let sit on counter for 30 minutes * Mixed in 1/4 cup sulfate and silicone free conditioner (used "not your mothers" because of the "free from"'s and it's cheaper than other brands for the amount you get)

Applying * Took container of henna mix into shower and set securely in shower caddy * Shampooed hair * Put top half of hair in bun on top of head with clip * Applied henna paste to lower half of hair * Let down top half of hair and applied remaining henna paste * Put all hair in bun on top of head with hair tie * Yelled: "Hey Siri! Set timer for five minutes!" * Finished shower routine including washing with loofa and shower gel and face wash, paying attention to areas of skin that might have henna on them * Once timer went off, thoroughly rinsed hair * Conditioned with regular conditioner then rinsed again

After * Used a small angled brush to apply henna to eyebrows * Set time for five minutes for each eyebrow * Washed off over sink and used washcloth to assist * Cleaned out hair and any remaining henna dye from around shower drain
