What are some examples of “city A located outside of region B is actually (unofficially considered) the capital of region B”?
For example, I’ve heard people saying that Miami is “the capital of Latin America (or just the Caribbean? I forgot)”, despite it’s located in a non-Latin American country. Also I know that in China, Nanjing is always joked as the capital of Anhui Province despite it’s actually located in, and is actually the capital of nearby Jiangsu Province, and Chengdu is sometimes joked as the capital of the Tibetan region (usually including the entire Tibet and Qinghai provinces as well as western Sichuan Province) despite not being located in it. What are some other examples?
