What's the new player experience like as a Fallout game?

Thinking about getting 76, but absolutely hate mmo style games, so had a couple of questions for y'all.

-Is there Limited time only events/p2w style system? I hate games with story based or quests that are only there for a week then never seen again type thing, or where you have to pay real money for basic features (EG release Fallout 1st)
