Drop rates effected by AOE?

So I'm farming Yagudo necklaces on a THF. If I kill 20 mobs one at a time, I seem to end up with ~5 necklaces. If I pull two groups of 10 and let the paladin trust do his Jesus thing, I typically see 1 drop.

Additionally via the single pulls, I end up with a lot of other random stuff; spells, songs, equipment pieces, etc. With the AOE pull I might get one drop or two. Several times nothing at all drops.

This has been a fairly consistent result.

Does AoE actually effect drop rates? 🤔
