Talk to me about the reaignation letter please
I work for the IRS, i do not work in return processing. I am young, this is my first job, I am feeling concerned. 3.5 years in at this point.
I know this offer smells like BS. Its too non-specific. I was in the military and Ive seen the government screw people. It happens.
Im worried the IRS will see significant down sizing. I do not work in tax return processing, so my position might not be considered a critical role by the new administration. I think furlough or firing is likely.
My office/manager basically have nothing to say about what is happening. They’re sticking their heads in the sand.
Best case scenario would be resign, hand off duties quickly, 6-7 months paid to find new employment. Second scenario I resign, they refuse to reduce my work load, no additional time to find new employment or start new employment, still let go in September. Or i don’t resign, and a furlough/layoff happens with a RIF. Or i stay and nothing changes.
There are so many unknowns.
This has never been a forever job for me, its stressful and I dont enjoy the work. I need someone to talk to me about this situation. I have a meeting with the union rep today for their opinion.
