Observering the observer
Greetings. I’m very new to this world and seek to understand the nature of concepts. I’m requesting help to conceptually understand a few core concepts.
Key concepts that I need help with :
- Observer: I understand it is the one thing that doesn’t change over our lives, some kind of a universal constant. Eternal. Allows awareness
- Observed: matter, anything that can be affected by entropy. Subject to change through life.
- sankhya enlightenment: Through understanding that the observer and observed are independent (Moksha)
- Vedanta enlightenment: Through the process of oneness between the observer and observed ( Brahmman )
- Buddha’s enlightenment: Consciousness is a stream and everything is in it, no self or observer, just pure consciousness
- consciousness: could be the observer
- observing the observer: if awareness allows for awareness of what allows awareness, wouldn’t that mean there’s another awareness above the observer
- samsara: is it physical or the figurative death of ego when we lose objects of attachment due to entropy. A cycle of rebirth into suffering
- Dukkha: when the cognitive faculties mistake the observer as a product of the observable
How is despite all the differences in philosophies and processes of liberation, people have the same insight that matter and its products are illusory in nature?
Pardon my ignorance I’ve only been studying these topics for 3-4 days now and the more I study the more I can’t put everything together cohesively.
