Seeking Advice: Our Golden Retriever’s Story

Hi everyone, I need your advice.

This is about our beloved golden retriever.

On February 1 (Saturday) afternoon, he suddenly started vomiting. Since he was still active and eating—though he only wanted chicken, which was unusual for him—we initially tried home remedies.

The next day, February 2 (Sunday), his nose started bleeding. Given our limited budget, my siblings and I pooled our money together to take him to the vet. After the consultation and tests, we were told that he had a blood parasite.

After the vet visit, we felt somewhat reassured since he had been checked. However, he still wasn’t eating properly, his nose was still bleeding, and he was vomiting brown liquid. The vet told us that it was normal for dogs with blood parasites to be weak and have a poor appetite.

On February 3 (Monday), his condition remained the same. We did everything we could to feed him, but he refused to eat. We had to use a syringe to get some food and medicine into him.

By February 4 (Tuesday), there was still no improvement. Out of concern, we decided to take him to another clinic for a second opinion. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were met by the same vet from the previous clinic. He reassured us again that weakness and loss of appetite were normal symptoms for dogs with blood parasites.

Trusting the vet’s advice, we brought our golden retriever home, believing that we were doing the right thing for him.

But that evening, around 6 PM, he vomited everything he had eaten. By 10 PM, we found him lying there—his stomach was hard, and he had passed away.

We are devastated. Everything happened so fast. We trusted the vet, believing in his expertise and that he cared for our dog. But now, we are left in shock, questioning if we did the right thing by following his advice.

We don’t know how to process this, and we are seeking guidance. Is there anything we can do to seek justice for our dog? Any advice would be deeply appreciated. .
