Game ending a total let down

Just finished my first game and did enjoy despite the UX problems and a few crashes. But the ending was such a disappointment that I'm still wondering if I missed something. In the year 1886 game just jumps to a screen saying "defeat" without any explanation on who won and based on what victory condition. No look back to the game on how I compared to other civs or anything similar. Humankind does this so much better, Firaxis should have looked more closely at that game and stolen more features while they were at it.
