Is Meritocracy just an Illusion?

It seems as children and youth we are taught that if you work hard, make good grades, go to college, get certifications we will work our way up through a successful career.

From my experience, as well as many others I know, this path has not led to what was told to us.

To move forward, social skills, and the ability to maneuver and operate with people, are what’s led to successful careers.
