Is buying intel in late 2024 a stupid idea?
Hello All,
I am currently look to purchase my first gaming computer in the next couple of months and was seeking some advice.
I want to build a computer which would fulfil all of my needs and last for the foreseeable future (5-10 years) without an upgrade.
My needs are below:
- at least 3 m.2 slots
- upgraded audio codec (ALC4080 or ALC1220)
- at least PCIE 5.0 for GPU and m.2 (if not possible preferably GPU)
The uses for the computer are gaming ranging from the latest triple a games to simple e sport titles, coding including mobile application development, simple coding and virtualisation and finally some media creation/editing such as photoshop, premier pro, after effects.
I have done some research and compiled a list of reasonable PC builds below:
note all prices are shown in AUD
Intel Options
14600KF + Z790 Tomahawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl32 = 926
12900KS + Z790 Tomahawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl32 = 1036
13700KF + Z790 Tomahawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl32 = 1056
AMD Options
7700x+ X670E Tomakhawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl23 = 1097
9700x+ X670E Tomakhawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl23 = 1177
7800X3d + X670E Tomakhawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl23 = 1387
9800X3d + X670E Tomakhawk wifi + 32gb 6400 cl23 = 1467
I am mainly focusing on these 3 parts as they are the only ones that I am still hesitant on. I am aware if I forfeit the upgraded audio codec and PCIE 5.0 I would be able to drop hundreds of dollars on the systems.
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated
