What happened to Willow's and Tara's kitten?

We only get to see their cute little tuxedo kitten for a few episodes and then that's it. I hope the poor kitten didn't get killed, but it's something that's been on my mind since I've been rewatching the series again and I literally see no one talking about that adorable kitten. Which also makes me wonder if Joss hates cats for some terrible reason. Since kittens are a delicacy for some demons and then there's the speculation that the secret ingredient in Double meat palace burgers is cat. :S (Which of course wasn't true thank god!)
