Paradox in the EDM scene

Im happy to see the EDM scene in the US growing bigger and seeing more investment into it. Meaning we get better production, better music, more artists. However, with EDM getting more mainstream, we begin to get more individuals hopping onto the train to make their bag. Honestly this is all coming from seeing Sommer Ray @Domaine being pushed hard (at least to me for whatever reason). I find it hard to believe she actually mixed herself. She probably paid someone to curate a set, hit play, and just stands there and waves on stage. I know there are other DJs that don’t really mix live, but at least make some of their own songs/remixes. I guess it’s somewhat upsetting knowing some people work hard to become a quality DJ and don’t get their limelight. I’m just a little baffled that she got booked, but I guess there’s enough simps in the city who will pay to see her otherwise they wouldn’t have done it.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
