Is burning one quart of oil a week sustainable (short term) for the engine and internals?
I have a 2010 prius and drive around 100 miles a day (yes i know a lot). The oil in the car has always burned over the past few years, however with how much I drive it, I burn about a quart per week (although I drive nearly 500 miles a week). Obviously this is not good for the engine, but I need it to last the next few semesters of college. I plan to run this car until it meets its demise, so I was wondering what I could do in the meantime or an estimate of how long the car will last. I have switched up to 5w20 from 0w20 in the hopes that a bit thicker oil would help a bit but it seems not to make much of a difference. Obviously I don't plan on taking apart the engine as this is a high milage car 200+ thousand miles and when it dies ill scrounge up some money to buy another. Side note, I am 100 percent sure it is burning, it does not leave any oil spots and the exhaust looks like I am driving a desal truck at times (exaggeration) lol
