What weather do you hate the most?

It was 40 & raining yesterday. Even though I have been out for decades, that type of weather always reminds me of an FTX from my days in Ft. Carson back when I was a SPC. We had a three day live fire (day & night exercises) in May with small ammo & claymores. I drew the green weenie and was put on the ammo detail… 1 NCO & 2 SPC’s to assist. Our ammo point had a small tarp, to keep the ammo dry but was otherwise uncovered.

On Monday it was 65 & sunny. Monday night the temperature dropped and it proceeded to be 40-50 degrees with nonstop rain (misty to downpours) from Tuesday - Thursday. It was miserable… That type of cold just seems to work its way into your bones & never leaves. The only time I felt a little bit warm was in my fart sack. The cherry on top was hearing from my buddies how cool it was to blow shit up & put rounds down range. Of course, on Friday morning as we packed up to return to garrison it was 75 & sunny. God truly does hate the infantry.

I’ve been through all sorts of weather - desert, jungle, blizzard, below zero… but raining while it’s just above freezing is still my kryptonite. What’s yours?
