My dad thinks everything is concious

So a conversation the other day with him went very philosophical. I am definitely an antinatalist, but I never tell anyone because if I did, like i have in the past, people start to think im suicidal or something lol. My dad on the otherhand is extremely spiritual and belives that our purpose in life is to wake up from this reality and transcend it. So i poked him further with questions, "hypothetically if humans didint exist, who would need to want to 'transcend' this reality?" he then says "awareness is in everything, the rocks, the trees, the ground etc". At that point I didn't even know what to think, other than it's the most mental gymnastics I've see anyone do to want to make procreation fine. I also ended up asking him if he thinks it would be okay if I had a child I knew was going to die a miserable death weeks after it was born, he said "I don't think it matters, that baby would have a chance to 'wake up', it would be a good thing". Does anyone even know what this kind of ideology is called? anyways, I love my dad, the conversation didn't get hostile or anything, as I hold my views back when talking with him. But just find his ideology so strange, almost religious esque? but he's a complete atheist up and down.
