Would y’all want a “reincarnated as the villainess in a game” concept in a non otome game?
I’d really like one
We have so many takes on this trope like My Next Life as the villainess: all routes lead to doom, the latest on tsundere villainess Lisolette, the one where a girl’s dad gets reincarnated, etc. but I think this could be so cool in other game genres as well.
Think of the potential of this idea. You could have:
-wacky slapstick shenanigans in games like Mario or A Hat in Time
-the existential dread and dilemma knowing that you can stop doing whatever evil thing that causes you to be a target but it’ll still be too late and you will be punished for your crimes in games like Hitman or dishonored
-being the main villain in a horror game but it turns out that you’re scared of the other monsters yourself.
-something like Undertale or DDLC would get so meta and so interesting with this concept
-finding out and stopping/reversing whatever caused you to become fallen while trying to not get killed by the main hero in the process in something like a soulsbourn game
And so much more!
I actually have a loose framework for a story like this in mind. Like, imagine the villainess trying to insert typical bad guy goal here suddenly remembers their past life. They now no longer want to do whatever it is their goal was and somehow earns the hero’s trust and befriends them. However, because the main character is not doing what the game has programmed them to do, things start glitching out and breaking. The heroes and main character desperately try to find a way to send the reincarnated person’s consciousness back but it’s too late and they painfully have to let the normal events from the game play out.
