Agatha as a merchant of dreams

I was reading Secret Adversary and it struck me how very fortunate Tommy and Tuppence are to suddenly have everything fall in their laps- adventure, sustenance, luxury even- living in Ritz and hailing a taxi at will and all..

And I was scoffing at it as how fantastic it is and then it struck me- Agatha wrote this for a war torn nation. People didn't have anything if they didn't have hope and promise... so how much this would have appealed to the general populace when they saw people like themselves suddenly getting life sorted..

That's her magic. She made so many people happy and hopeful and look forward to a better life!

Hail Agatha! 🙌🙌🙌
