A Murder is Announced
Who else thinks that it is probably her most underrated book?
I mean, the subtlety of clues, the limpid post war setting, how that changed the social dynamics of a village, the slow unveiling of the murderer, which almost all of us nevertheless miss...
I recently read it the second time and appreciated so many clues I had missed the first time.. Christie is excellent in doling out significant clues all over and yet probably she laughs at us knowing well that we WILL miss those, since they read as such harmless bits of facts and happenings...
I absolutely loved it this time and from now onwards, AMIA will be part of my top Christie recommendation.
