Fixing slow downloads on the pc game pass app.

I’ve been annoyed at the pc game pass app for a while now downloading so slowly when I have 1gbps connection. My solution was very simple just trial and error.

Network and Internet > advanced network settings > (Your Internet source ie Ethernet 2 in my case ) > more adapter options > configure > advanced > scroll down to speed and duplex > change from auto negotiate to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex (or highest speed available for yourself)

Instantly sent my Xbox app download to gig speeds. Hope this helps.

Your internet provider might be responsible for this or at least add to the problem. If my first suggestion doesn’t work, Call them and ask them to un enrol your service for CGNAT.

“Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT, also known as large-scale NAT), is a method of sharing a single unique public IP address with multiple services to allow providers to extend their pool of usable IPv4 addresses. This means your modem or router will be assigned a private IP address instead of a unique public IP address. Our network will then translate that into a shared public address allowing you to access the Internet”.

I first noticed this when my Nintendo Switch could not get a good enough NAT type to play online and after hours of fucking around with port forwarding and router settings, realised it was my provider. Sometimes they just don’t even bother telling you.

Since removing my cgnat, my gamepass download speeds how become even more stable at higher rates.
