It's hard to care about Roman

To be clear, I've been a fan of Roman's work the last 4 years. The tribal chief persona has done wonders for his character and work. My issue is he's almost never around.

Now,I'm not blaming Roman on a personal level for taking a sweet deal. Anyone in their right mind would accept a multi-million dollar deal with limited dates. I'm just speaking from the standpoint of a fan watching the product.

We're in a period in WWE where all the top guys are on TV almost every week cutting promos and working matches building their programs and fleshing out their characters. Even Punk, though he does take breaks, when he has something going on he's on TV weekly.

We've reached the poing with Roman where even when he has a program he's out at least 50% of the time. So when they announced on Raw he was gonna be out for the foreseeable future it just made me roll my eyes. Yet more another missed opportunity for him to develop his character.

Some would argue that Roman being away so much is good because it makes him more special. While that's a valid take it's had the opposite effect for me. I don't think your top guy should have to miss half or more of your TV to be special.

After all, Austin and Rock were on TV weekly and it didn't hurt their star power. Even today, all the stars are consistently on TV and WWE's business is hotter than ever. These characters connect because they're cutting all these promos, fleshing out their characters and programs.

Roman on the other hand has become one note. He's basically the same character he was before coming back except he's just positioned as a face. I wanna see him evolve his tribal chief persona into a true baby face, but he's absent so much that there's not a lot of chance to do that.

He just shows up and does the same stuff for a week or two then disappears again. I hope when he comes back they really get into the weeds with his history with Seth, but idk if that's gonna happen. It's hard for me to care about Roman right now because I think he could be doing a lot more than he is.
