what are your wolfstar unpopular opinions?
mine are:
i could care less about grant. he’s a great person, and he definitely deserved better than remus (because even if remus clearly loved him, he was never in love with him), but i just love wolfstar too much to really care about them. if anything, i’m happy he found someone who could actually love him the way he deserved.
i HATE non-monogamous wolfstar. people can like whatever they want, i just don’t ever see them sleeping with others, or having threesomes or anything. that’s just not something i think they’d ever, ever do. for people who believe james isn’t straight, i’m pretty neutral about it; i think there’s an argument for him being pan, for sure. i can see why people say james might have fun with them. that’s okay, but beyond that, even THEN, they just would never. i think it also goes against the way they love and how their traumas play major, extremely significant roles into that.
miss the older fics where things like this aren’t even suggested. i think i’m just a hopeless romantic, but i only like and see them in fics where they’re only ever really into each other. maybe they’re with people before they figure themselves out and work through internalised homophobia, etc., but it’s only ever really each other. nobody else meant anything. i’m here for them. i’m on this subreddit for them. it’s all for them. i want stories of them. just them. always them. that’s why i’m on a wolfstar subreddit not a wolfstar + who knows who one
cadence wasn’t for me, i see this opinion more now. the writing is great, i love everything around cadence - marlene and remus, tonya, etc.- but the way remus is in love with tomny, and even more so, the way he ACTS ON that crush is really what’s wrong. it’s just not okay, ruined the fic entirely for me. if sirius did that, people would NEVER let it go. sirius deserved better. it’s about him having the crush, more so what he does with his feelings.
wolfstar would never be friends with the skittles. period. you have to literally not understand the characters to even suggest such a thing, and fics where they’re all friends, ruins the fundamental dynamics of the marauders and their morals.
remus wouldn’t sleep around. it’s a fundamental misunderstanding of his character. he wouldn’t be a casanova. obviously nobody got the joke in atyd. he’s radically insecure. maybe there could be an argument for muggle remus. maybe, if well written and even then it would be a very different take on him, but without lycanthropy, for sure there’s an argument. with it, it’s delusion, in my opinion.
sirius doesn’t love remus more than remus loves him. people just don’t understand the way remus loves, a lot of times, and so it’s easier for them to say “sirius fell harder”, “sirius loves remus way more”, and blah blah blah. obviously, there’s people out there that get it, fics with extraordinary examples of it, but there’s a lot that also just don’t understand the way remus feels his feelings.
