Vet Tech Work Injuries
Hello everyone
I want to study to become a vet tech, but I am really scared about getting work injuries. I heard a lot of horrifying stories of nurses getting bitten (deep to the bone) or even their face torn off and needing facial reconstruction .... does work injuries happen often for you guys..?
Like on average how often does this happen? This is the only concern that's keeping me away from starting this career.
Like I don't know if I'll be able to keep it professional and calm when dealing with aggressive animals… I heard it’s important to stay calm because dogs can sense your fear. I know you get trained on how to handle these type of situations but you never know what’s going to happen ;-;
** UPDATE** Wow thank you everyone for your feedbacks, I didn’t expect so much people to reply on my post !
After reading all the comments, it seems like minor scratches and stuff are a daily thing which I don’t mind. I’m planning to volunteer at a shelter first to see how I feel and maybe work as a vet receptionist first and see how the work environment is :(
I really dont wanna cause my future coworkers(and myself) major injuries because of my lack of skills and training so I really need to reconsider this career 🥲
