Old people are a burden on society

I get it respect your elders, they’ve been through a lot, blah blah. But let’s be real here. As populations age, old people contribute less and less while consuming more and more resources. Healthcare costs skyrocket, pensions drain government funds, and the younger working generation is expected to support a demographic that just keeps growing and isn’t producing anything anymore.

“But they worked hard their whole lives!” sure, some did. But modern medicine has extended lifespans way beyond what society was built to handle. A retirement system that worked when people died in their 60s doesn’t function when people live to 90+ and expect the same level of care and support. It’s simple math: too many old people + not enough young people working = economic collapse.

Besides that, why do we let out-of-touch, tech-illiterate 80-year-olds run governments, dictate policies, and make choices about a world they won’t even live to see? They fight against progress because they’re stuck in their ways, and the younger generation pays the price.

No one wants to say it, but at some point, we need to accept that keeping people alive just because we can isn’t always the best choice for society.
