Clarks dad dying.

If Jonathan was having a heart attack why didn't Clark super speed him to the hospital? He didn't have to die. They were just trying to keep up with the Christopher Reeve movie, but I dont think he needed to die. I like John Schneider's Jonathan Kent alot.
