S9E8 Robym’s crusade against the older kids is heartbreaking

I know this is a produced show. I know that there’s only so much the audience is privy to. But my rewatch has stopped here, especially after watching the latest episode where Kotex breaks down in tears over Aurora’s baptism, because it’s so heartbreaking knowing how the OG13 are eventually abandoned by their father.

Robym is acting all sullen because she fears announcing her latest pregnancy to the whole family because SOME OF THE TEENAGERS (only 2) weren’t jumping for joy when they announced she was pregnant with Sol. All they said was they weren’t excited because there’s already too many kids. Reasonable reaction. Not every kid is going to be excited about another sibling. It’s natural. Especially since their father’s time, attention and resources were already spread so thin! It’s so cruel the way she villainizes them in this scene for having normal human emotions.

She gave the OG3 and OG13 zero space for their feelings on blending her family into theirs. She literally expected them all to bow down to her and children. Only her and her children’s feelings mattered. The one who never exercised plural marriage, who had no experience raising someone else’s children, expected them all to bend to her will. Her kids have a dad!! A dad that’s involved in their lives!!

Also I clocked how she says they would know something is up because it’s so unusual to have the whole family over for dinner at her house. Because she never did her part to contribute to the nourishment of the whole family. Food, time together, bonding. She had zero interest in the OG13 other than what they could do for her. And fast forward to today. She got what her selfish heart wanted. Complete estrangement.

Thank you for listening. I just can’t stomach this episode. Maybe I’ll skip it so I can get this rewatch back on the road.
