Galaxy Longevity vs Pixel Longevity

I've heard over the years that "Pixels get better with age and Galaxy's get worse."

Does anyone have years of experience with both platforms that can attest to this, or is this a fallacy? I've switched phones a lot the last two years, and pre-ordered a Galaxy Ultra. I have a Pixel 9 Pro that has some irritations using in some situations.
