CPP Question

Hello! Very uninformed on this topic as I’m in my mid 20s and but helping my senior mother file for her CPP.

From my understanding you get a reduced pension for claiming before 65 with a reduced 0.6% for each month before age 65?

Based on her situation this is the choice she’s made (not looking to convince her otherwise).

My question, if she turns 62 this May will she get slightly more (1.8% more (0.6x3) by waiting to claim in September 2025 (3 months later than claiming the month after she turns 62?).

I don’t know how the specifics work and was hoping someone could clarify as I can’t find any information on this otherwise.

Reason for not claiming right when she turns 62 is she will be finishing up work and retiring in September so wondering if it would be more beneficial to wait the extra 3 months when she no longer has work to start claiming CPP

Thank you!
