Does enjoying PFA rely on our knowledge of Hayley's personal life?
I really enjoy PFA but I also wonder how much of my enjoyment of the album is contingent on our knowledge of Hayley Williams' personal life. Most of us who follow Paramore/Hayley at least vaguely know about the ups/downs with Josh, Jeremy, Chad, struggles with depression and anxiety, and this (?maybe) relationship with Taylor now.
How much of that allows you to enjoy and appreciate the album?
Would Crystal Clear hit as hard if you didn't know what a pos Chad was, the extent of her depression, and now get to hear her emerge from the other side? Would Roses have as much of an impact if you didn't know about Hayley's coming of age in the male-dominated scene of Warped Tour, the drama around misery business lyrics, etc which lets you appreciate her growth and welcoming of female friendship more?
Maybe we would love the album just the same, but it's impossible to truly say since, well... most of us /do/ know a little about her personal life. I'm curious how many of you know people who don't really follow Paramore or know nothing about Hayleys life, who enjoy this album.
I wonder the same thing about tswift as well since she has very inextricably tied her publicized personal life to her music
