Friend having charging problems

As the title says my friend is having very bad charging problems. Today we were trying to play together and when he tried to charge it, it wouldn’t work. He tried resetting his quest, hard rebooting, changing outlets and changing the cord but of course nothing worked. He did tell me it does work only when he pushes the charger in real hard. The only thing we haven’t tried was a factory reset which is basically our last option. Any tips?
